Dorman Products is looking for an entry level, Area Sales Representative for the Sacramento and LA markets.
The Area Sales Representative (ASR) is the boots on the ground contributor that is the primary contact for all jobbers & technicians, and secondary contact to warehouse distributors and retailers within their area of responsibility. To best serve our customers in the assigned territory this contributor should be centrally located within an area that typically spans multiple cities or states. This is a road warrior position that may require travel outside of the assigned area based on business needs.
The Area Representative’s primary responsibility is to drive sales, profitability and awareness of Dorman Products through distribution, in support of the area business plan achievement. To accomplish this objective the ASR should drive brand & product awareness across all levels of distribution. This support should come in the form of trade show representation, customer sales/counter person training, jobber/technician visits, changeover assistance and more. The ASR should support Dorman’s sales and profitability objectives by working with these customers to optimize store inventories (Top 250/500 GAP Analysis), communicate promotions, resolve complaints (e.g. Labor Claims) and communicate new product opportunities. To further support Dorman’s new product growth objectives, the ASR should take action to expand marketing material distribution and new product announcement enrollment. These objectives should be accomplished within or below all budgetary constraints.
Bachelor's degree in business, automotive technology or a related field preferred, or 3+ years of applicable experience.
Generalist understanding of common business practices and Microsoft Office suite.
Self-starter that thrives in remote office environment.
Strong relationship building and presentation skills.
Ability to travel 50% or more of the time, including weekend travel as needed.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Technical aptitude to continuously learn new products and general interest in automotive technology.
Has experience and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
